ABOUT STEM-tastic

SCIENCE. TECHNOLOGY. FUN.

Caribbean nationals, and women in particular, are underrepresented in STEM. Stimulating the interests of children is one way to increase the pipeline of STEM professionals. Exposing them to the vast professional options available at an early age is a critical factor in making positive changes.

Through this StemTastic blog, an intrepid team of professional women from The Bahamas and Belize are working to herald the iconic contributions of change makers and innovators with a Caribbean heritage who are helping to make our societies better through the work in which they are engaged across the globe. We are particularly focused on presenting these narratives as a way to pique the imagination and aspirations of children across the Caribbean region for STEM careers.

This effort was initiated through the winning proposal for the Caribbean Mediathon hosted by Compete Caribbean in November 2016, the birthplace for the StemTastic project. We invite you to remain engaged with us as we move our concept to completion.
